Generating Card Numbers

So im sure alot of you guys remember how it was before the chip {emv} and how many different bins there were that you could just generate off a active or once active card number call up chase phone authorization find a approval and then write it on to a card with the same discretionary data as the card in which i generated off of and it would fly no proplem.

The reason im bringing this up is because recently i bought a cvv with a bin and from a bank id never heard of and had great success so i searched for a dump with that bin and bought it , I checked it and it was live so i wrote it on to a card with the intent of triple dipping it because it was a 201 and had zero success but when i checked the number afterwards it was still live, So for the fuck of it i rewrote the card but this time i changed the 201 to a 101 and that one digit suddenly turned my life into something out of a movie

Im looking for someone who has had a similar experience or for someone who understands the methods used to create the discretionary data and could possibly explain how this was possible and that one bin was just the beginning just about every bin connected to that bank was vulnerable
