The stolen information is being sold at auction, allegedly as part of a charity fundraiser.
Cybercriminals involved in a cyberattack using extortionate software on game developer CD Projekt last month have put the stolen data up for auction.
Emsisoft specialists, who previously identified the cybercriminals as the HelloKitty group, told the IT Pro resource that the hackers organized a charity fundraising event, offering passwords to the stolen CD Projekt data as a reward. The hackers ' ad was revealed on a site on the darknet, probably owned by HelloKitty.
The invitation to the "charity fundraiser", which is likely to bring financial benefits only to the hackers themselves, lists a "donation reward", which is "passwords from archives of $10 thousand each".
The hackers also noted that other stolen data, including "company reports and non-disclosure agreements, "would be" shared with the media." The extortionists did not specify which publications will receive the stolen data.
